He was accompanied by local officials and First Vice-Rector Riyaz Minzaripov.

Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law Olga Cheparina and Head of Internships of said faculty Stella Seletskaya informed the guests about the Legal Clinic’s current work.

“Our Clinic was re-established in 1999, after having first been opened in the mid-19^th century. It’s intended to serve all citizens, but we primarily aim at low-income persons – our advice is free. Students work here as consultants under the guidance of our educators. Last year, 218 individuals applied to the Legal Clinic,” commented Cheparina.

Apart from that, law students cooperate with Ronald McDonald House Charities on providing consultation to parents of kids afflicted with cancer. The Legal Clinic also offers community outreach in rural districts of Tatarstan.

Minister Konovalov shared his ideas about online services, “I think it’s necessary to try new formats, such as, for instance, distance electronic applications. Students can handle such inquiries quicker because they’ll have legislation at their convenience, and they can also seek advice from their superiors online.”
