Deputy Minister of Education and Sports of Uganda Alex Kakooza toured Kazan University's petroleum cluster

The visit occurred on 24th August.

Uganda is ready to launch full-scale petroleum production soon. Although significant oil reserves were found there over a decade ago, production has been delayed for various reasons. Now Ugandan officials are eager to learn more about other countries’ experience in this matter, and KFU with its mighty petroleum science team is a logical choice for a visit.

Head of EcoOil research unit Mikhail Varfolomeev and his colleague Yuan Chengdong elucidated the development of this area at KFU and spoke about the global market trends in front of the Ugandan colleagues. The delegates tried to cover the oil cluster comprehensively and came to the Institute of Chemistry, the Institute of Physics, and the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies.

The guests then left for the WorldSkills venue; notably, Uganda is pondering the possibility to apply for the rights to host one of the upcoming competitions.
