Professor Evgeni Magid and Associate Professor Maxim Talanov took part in the International Conference on Artificial Life and Robotics ICAROB 2017

The International Conference on Artificial Life and Robotics (ICAROB 2017) was held on January 19-22 in the city of Miyazaki, Japan.

The event provided opportunities for participants to exchange experiences and discuss issues of the development of modern technologies in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence. The deputy director of research of the Higher Institute of ITIS Maxim Talanov and the Head of the Intelligent Robotics Department  Evgeni Magid took part in the conference.

Team of the Laboratory of Intelligent Robotic Systems (LIRS) prepared two papers that will be published in scientific proceedings of the conference and will be indexed in the bibliographic databases Scopus and Web of Science. The best of the papers presented at the conference, after careful selection and further development will be published in the journal “Robotics, Networking and Artificial Life”, which is also indexed in the Scopus and Web of Science databases. Papers preprints are available in the "Publications" section.

Professor Magid presented a paper "A multithreaded algorithm of UAV visual localization based on a 3D model of the environment: implementation with CUDA technology and CNN filtering of minor importance objects". The research paper was prepared in collaboration with researchers from the Bryansk State Technical University (BSTU).

Further Professor Magid presented another paper: "Modeling a crawler-type UGV for urban search and rescue in the Gazebo environment", including results of the work carried out within the framework of the project "Localization, mapping and searching for a path for unmanned ground robot (UGV) with the help of a group of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) using active collective technical vision and planning in the common trust area of a group of robots". In addition, in this work, researchers from the "University of Innopolis" took an active part. Researches are conducted with the participation of the scientific group of the ANPL laboratory of the Aerospace Technologies Department of the Israel Institute of Technology "Technion" led by Professor Vadim Indelman and with the support of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Space of Israel.

Professor Magid also was a moderator of the conference section "Artificial neural networks and robot control using biological signals" and was a member of the International Conference Organizing Committee. Professor Magid was also invited to the International Organizing Committee of the International Conference on Artificial Life and Robotics 2018, which will be held on February 1-4, 2018 in the city of Beppu, Oita Prefecture, Japan.
