KFU student to use grant funding to publish Braille music sheets

Dilyara Zalyalieva won 300 thousand rubles for her project at the iVolga 2019 forum.

Apart from being a graduate student of the Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication, Ms. Zalyalieva is also a member of a musical quartet where the other three members are also visually impaired. She is a multi-instrumentalist, having acquired skills of playing quray, flute, whistle, violin and some other instruments.

“Many of the visually impaired, including me, feel the need for Braille-script musical literature,” says the grant winner. “The Braille script notations and other documents can help receive musical education. It’s important for us to feel the notes.”

The project is titled Accessible Notations. 300 thousand rubles will be allocated to purchasing special software which translates study materials into Braille. Over 60 volumes of literature are expected to be published within this undertaking.
