A head of Laboratory of Intelligent Robotic Systems Evgeny Magid visited a group of companies Geoscan.

On 22nd May a professor of the Higher Institute of Information Technologies and Intelligent Systems (ITIS) of Kazan Federal University (KFU) Evgeni Magid visited the Geoscan (GC Geoscan).
Geoscan is a Russian group of companies, working on the development and production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and also the development of software for photogrammetric data processing and three-dimensional (3D) visualization.
Evgeni Magid told us: “Applied researches of Laboratory of Intelligent Robotic Systems (LIRS) are focused on the development in the field of using UAV. Today there is a project in the laboratory, aimed at theoretical and experimental study of tasks, arising during the implementation of robotic search-and-rescue operations. It is necessary to use different types of robots or combined heterogeneous groups of robots depending on specifics of the given task; for example, to map extensive infected or damaged areas UAVs and ground robots, which are equipped with GPS positioning and high security, are required. Certainly we are interested in interaction with such companies as “Geoscan” that are involved in knowledge-intensive tasks. During the meeting we discussed the issues concerning collaborative applied researches and integration of company expertise in our studying process within new bachelor's and master's degree on Intelligent Robotics".
“Geoscan” group is the only one that owns all the components of UAV technologies for making aerial photography and geological exploration. It is avionics, sensors, communication and control systems, development and production of gliders and quadrocopters, software for data processing and visualization. A unique advantage of the "Geoskan" technique, comparing to others, are the record parameters of length and flight duration. Quality of GC "GEOSCAN" UAV allows the company to compete and excel most foreign analogues. One of the main features of the "GEOSCAN" UAV is the fact that all complexes are being created within the company's own production. In the production process, only several components of outside production are used, however the components of their own design allow to significantly reduce the cost of products. Currently "GEOSCAN" supplies its products to 12 countries.
