KFU Post-Graduate Student Participates in UN Human Rights Council

February 25 to March 22 - UN headquarters in Geneva hosted the 22nd session celebrating the 20th anniversary of the adoption of Vienna Declaration and Program of Action which approved the principles of universality, indivisibility and interdependence of human rights.

Farida Valiullina, a post-graduate student at the department of International and European Law at KFU, was approved as the candidate for participation in the Human Rights Council session. Moreover, she was appointed as the head of the delegation selected by European Association of Lawyers, which included representatives from Sweden, Finland, Spain and Poland.

During the four-week session of the UN Human Rights Council over 30 draft resolutions were adopted, interactive dialogues with the special reporters and independent experts of the Council were conducted on the human rights situation in Afghanistan, Guinea, Iran, North Korea, Haiti, Ivory Coast, Mali and in the occupied Palestinian territories. High-Level Segment included speeches of more than 60 government ministers, German President and Vice-Presidents of Iraq and Colombia, as well as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Gennady Gatilov.
