Kazan University toured by Zarubezhneft employees

Rector Ilshat Gafurov and General Director of Zarubezhneft Sergey Kudryashov held negotiations on 27th June.

Dr. Gafurov touched on comprehensive digitization projects and petroleum science research.

KFU and Zarubezhneft have been cooperating since 2015. The commissioned research includes thermal and chemical oil production enhancement, catalysts for in-situ and ex-situ refining of heavy oils and bitumen, in-situ combustion, oil oxidation, digital drill sample technology, and tracing. Altogether, 9 contracts have been signed with Zarubezhneft and its subsidiaries in that period.

The sides have applied for a patent called ‘Production of bitumen carbonate collectors with the use of cyclic steam pumping and water thermolysis catalyst.’

The visitors toured a number of labs and centers to find out more about KFU’s inquiries into digital drill samples, geological mechanics, isotopes, thermal extraction methods, and catalysts.
