Mine Surveyors of the Leading Oil Companies Got Together in Kazan University

From March 18 to March 22, 2013 the Supplementary Education, Quality Management and Marketing Centre of the Institute Geology and Petroleum Technologies of KFU was holding a research-to-practice conference on the topic “Urgent problems of organisation and performance of geodetic engineering, mine surveying and land surveying works and enhancement of geodynamic safety during hydrocarbon deposit development”. The conference was convened for mine surveyors of the leading oil companies of Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Saratovskaya and Orenburgskaya regions. Such companies as Tatneft, Bavlyneft, Bashneft-Dobycha, Almetyevneft, Tatnefteprom, Saratovneftegaz, Leninogorskneft and others were represented at this conference.

Reference information: Mine surveying is a branch of mining science and technique, the subject of which is study of the following topics on the basis of in-situ measurements and subsequent geometrical constructions: deposit structure, shape and size of mineral bodies in subsoil, commercial and harmful component location in them, country rock properties, special location of entries, processes of rock and land surface deformation in connection with mining operations, reflection of the mining company’s production process dynamics. The works are performed using mine surveyor’s instruments. The respective data is accumulated in mining graphic documentation in the form of drawings made using geometrical projection method.

Today, on the 21st of March, a round table “Normative-and-legal and statutory basis of mine-surveying operations and enhancement of geodynamic safety during hydrocarbon deposit development” was organized in the framework of the present seminar. This arrangement was opened by the Vice-Rector for Research, Mr. Danis Nurgaliev. He emphasized topicality and importance of the research-to-practice seminar and reminded that it was the third year in succession that mine surveyors were getting together in such a format. He also expressed a hope that the seminar had become a tradition.

The Executive Director of Russian Mine Surveyors Union, LLC, Mr. Victor Gritskov; the Executive Director for Geodynamic Safety of Fuel and Energy Complex Objects of the Institute of Physics of the Earth named after O. Yu. Schmidt of the Russian Academy of Science, Mr. Yuriy Kuzmin; Director General of Srednevolzhskoye AGP (Aero Surveying Enterprise), Mr. Sergey Kryzhinskiy; specialists of RUSNAVGEOSET company and TD GALILEO, LLC, along with representatives of the respective ministries and agencies took part in the round table. Urgent problems of normative-and-legal basis, regulating activity carried out by mine-surveying services of oil-and-gas production companies and engineering-and-surveying enterprises, were discussed during the meeting.

The seminar participants made a special mention of high level of the event organizing and its practical importance. “I suppose that such a work is very necessary! – the chief mine surveyor of Tatneft, OJSC, Mr. Rasil Bakirov, expressed the collective opinion. – I hope it is not the last time that we are getting together in such a format. Let’s proceed with our cooperation, discussion of urgent problems and success sharing”.

It is worth saying that the Supplementary Education, Quality Management and Marketing Centre has been fruitfully working for a real sector of the Republican economy for a long time already. There were refresher training courses offered in the Centre for top executives and specialists of all geological services of Tatneft, OJSC simultaneously with the round table.
