President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov inspected on-campus renovation and construction works

Rector Ilshat Gafurov reported about recent developments in the morning today.

The first stop was at the University Clinic, where new construction is planned to facilitate hospital beds and labs. The new building’s design project is under consideration because it has to conform to existing zoning regulations in the historical city center. Apart from that, one of the currently renovated buildings is also a historical heritage object, so it needs some adjustment to be in line with contemporary fire and safety requirements.

The delegation then moved to 43 Karl Marx Street, where KFU now owns another historical building dating back to the early 19th century. It has been significantly altered during the previous four refurbishments, including the adding of two levels in 1934. The current condition is quite precarious, so it was decided today that fragile elements will be removed and the building will be fully renovated. It is set to welcome the offices of the Institute of International Relations.

The last stop was 25 Kremlyovskaya Street, where KFU plans to house the Preparatory Faculty for International Students. Renovations here should be completed before September 2019.
