The event took place at the 5^th International Forum on Teacher Education.

‘Knowledge, Policy and Practice in Teacher Education: a Cross-National Study’ was co-authored by Ian Menter (University of Oxford), Maria Teresa Tatto (Arizona State University), and Roza Valeeva (Kazan Federal University).

They made observations about historical developments of teacher education in Australia, Czechia, England, Finland, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, and the United States.

The three main questions answered in the book are:

1. What is the evolution of different approaches to teaching in the included countries and which factors influenced the changes that happened during the years?
2. What are the basic theories characterizing past and present conceptualizations of knowledge, skills and inclinations necessary for teachers, and what proof supports such theories?
3. What does the 30-year overview of pedagogical education tell us about knowledge and traditions that shaped past and present innovations in teacher training?

The authors work on finding influences of national and international context on the development of policy trajectories with regards to teacher education and practice.
