Rector Ilshat Gafurov's meeting with InfoWatch

Joint research projects were discussed on 23rd May.

The guest team was headed by President of InfoWatch Natalya Kaspersky.

Rector Gafurov welcomed the visitors and spoke about the university’s development in light of digital economy initiatives. He mentioned that KFU now has in-house dissertation boards and can bestow scientific degrees in all major subject areas.

“We create digital technology in all our institutes. Petroleum scientists were one of the first to answer the trends of digital economy. We also are active in digital medicine,” he added.

President Kaspersky replied, “The company’s work is currently aimed at predictive security. Our second area is protection from external threats. We have a product to analyze external code. Seems that this might be useful in your study process. Yet another project is protection of production control systems.”

Kazan University showed interest in protection personal medical records. This applies both to existing personal data and prospective personalized medicine solutions, which includes real-time health monitoring. Ms, Kaspersky said that it would be interesting to show an example of personal data protection for the whole country on Kazan University’s platform.

Professor Oleg Sherstyukov familiarized the guests with his group’s cryptography research, namely, mobile cryptography and meteor trail cryptography.

The sides decided to further discuss cooperation in workgroups and establish a research and education center for joint projects.
