WorldSkills Russia championship held in Kazan

Rector Ilshat Gafurov visited the opening ceremony on 21st May.

The event was helmed by Vice-Premier of Russia Tatiana Golikova and Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russian Mikhail Kotyukov. President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Prime Minister of Tatarstan Aleksey Pesoshin and General Director of WorldSkills Russia Robert Urazov also contributed.

The sides discussed organizational matters for both the WorldSkills Russia stage and WorldSkills 2019 world championships (scheduled to be held at the same venue, Kazan Expo, on 22nd – 27th August). Among the good news for Kazan University was that 631 million rubles will be allocated to renovate the Universiade Village, where 5,500 WorldSkills 2019 championship participants will be stationed.

President Minnikhanov reported on the preparations made by provincial and municipal authorities.

WorldSkills heritage questions were also raised. Apart from the Universiade Village, some refreshments will be provided for local roads, sewage facilities, lighting, and accessible environment.
