New Institute of International Relations building opened in Kazan city center

A special rectorate meeting was held in the facility on 18th February.

Renovation works in the building have been ongoing for a few years. It is set to be occupied by the Higher School of Historical Sciences and World Cultural Heritage.

The first floor is mostly dedicated to event rooms and exhibitions. The assembly hall is named after Karl Fuchs, prominent scientist, physician, ethnographer of Tatar people, Rector of Kazan University in 1823 – 1827. Walls are decorated with maps and photos; in particular, photos by Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky were chosen for the opening days.

As usual for the university as a whole, the Institute of International Relations caters to different age groups. The Institute houses the Tatarstan Branch of the Russian Association of History and Social Studies Teachers. Schoolchildren interested in history, sociology, and foreign languages can attend various types of classes here.

In a short time, a joint department with the Institute of World History will be stationed here as well.

As Institute Director Ramil Khayrutdinov noted, renovation is to be continued.

The building is conveniently located at 44 Levo-Bulachnaya street in the city center, very close to the Institute of Psychology and Education.
