A visit was to Cairo University took place on 3rd – 6th December.
KFU dispatched Associate Professor Nailya Mingazova and Deputy Director of Islamica Resource Center Marat Safin to this important mission.
During a seminar at Cairo University, Dr. Mingazova presented a new KFU journal called Arab Studies in Eurasia (Russian title Арабистика Евразии). The seminar was attended by local diplomats, educators, and students of Russian language from Cairo University and Alexandria University.
KFU delegates and Cairo University executives discussed the upcoming opening of the Center for Russian Studies and Civilizational Partnership at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science of CU. The Egyptian side noted that the center will also function as a Kazan University’s office in the Middle East. Among the proposed activities of the Center are joint publications, conferences, Tatar cultural events in Egypt, Tatar to Arabic translations of popular books, Arabic language courses for Tatarstanis in Egypt, advancement of Russian language in Egyptian schools, etc.
The initiative was supported by Hussein Shafai, Head of the Russian-Egyptian Science and Culture Foundation, publisher of the Arab Studies in Eurasia.
