5th International Turkology Conference

The conference, held on 14th – 16th November, is a part of the 8th Forum “Islam in a Multicultural World.”

On the 15th, a roundtable was held under the title “Turkic World as a factor of historical and cultural heritage.” This year, there were no subject panels, as the hosts decided to push the interdisciplinary agenda.

Among the discussed problems are the description of Turkey in Russian textbooks, Turkish language teaching for Russian speakers, and others. Later on, a panel was held about Russia and the Turkic world in the era of ethnic and religious transformations.

Also on the 15th, two public lectures were given to the participants. Vladimir Avatkov, Senior Research Association at the Center for Post-Soviet Studies of the Institute of World Economy and International Relations, spoke about Turkish-Russian relations in the 21st century, and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities of Istanbul University Hayati Develi informed everyone about the current trends in Turkish language teaching.
