The festivities coincided with a forum on gas hydrates.

Kazan University was represented by Vice-Rector Danis Nurgaliev and Head of EcoOil priority research area Mikhail Varfolomeev. Naturally, petroleum industry is the main area of cooperation between the two universities since they became partners in 2016.

A gift from Kazan Federal University was an amber painting which depicts blossoming flowers from the famous quote by Mao Zedong.

Dr. Varfolomeev gave a plenary lecture on EcoOil's experiments and achievements in in-situ combustion.
