The partnership is planned to cover materials science, applied physics, biology and biotechnology.

JAIST, the first advanced degree university in Japan, currently provides postgraduate and doctorate programs in nine subject areas. The Institute comprises three schools – Knowledge Science, Information Science, and Materials Science.

The agreement, signed by Rector Ilshat Gafurov and President Asano Tetsuo, outlines plans for joint research, publication, scientific events, and academic exchange.

In particular, the two leaders discussed the Center for Single Nanoscale Innovative Devices, the Center for High-Performance Nature-Derived Materials, and the Center for Trustworthy IoT Infrastructure. KFU representatives also showed interest in the Research Center for Service Science, the Research Center for Theoretical Computer Science, and the Research Center for Entertainment Science.

The visit and the ongoing cooperation with Japanese colleagues have been facilitated by Vice-Rector for Education Dmitry Tayursky, who used to work in Japan and is in charge of KFU-Japan links.
