The Ambassador visited on 21st September.

She was accompanied by Director of Neso Russia Jerke Verschoor and Vice-Rector Linar Latypov.

After being greeted by Dr. Latypov, Ms. Jones-Bos addressed the students by asking what they know about the Netherlands. After hearing a few well-known associations, she said that she would also add Peter I to the list, “It was he who became an important link between our two countries. Russia played an immense role in liberating Europe during World War II. The Netherlanders know very well about the sacrifices that Russian people made to set us free. The Netherlands is not a large country, but it's one of the biggest economies in the world and the 3rd biggest investor in Russia. Our links with Tatarstan are even tighter. I've brought representatives of 17 companies with me.”

She elaborated on linguistic ties as well, mentioning some words that were borrowed by the two languages from each other. She said it is now very common to see Russians in the Netherlands, and various talented people from Russia have found their way to her country to showcase their abilities.

The students asked some questions pertaining to the Ambassador's area of expertise.

Mr. Verschoor concluded the meeting with a presentation about Neso Russia, a Netherlandish government agency for international academic exchange and research cooperation.
