Student recruitment and other matters discussed with Chengdu company Beijing Tianfu and Sichuanese schools

The delegation was headed by General Manager of Beijing Tianfu Zhang Qinsheng.

Vice-rectors Linar Latypov and Dmitry Tayursky led the KFU side during the talks on 20th September.

Mikhail Sidorov, Beijing Tianfu Assistant General Manager for International Cooperation, introduced the guests, among them four principals and vice-principals of large Sichuanese schools (Dawan, Gongxian, Nanxi N 1, and Yibin N 1).

Linar Latypov introduced the University and talked about Chinese students and Sinology.

Special attention was given to Russian language studies which often prove to be a matter of concern for incoming students. The Chinese colleagues also asked many questions about accommodation and percentage of successful Chinese graduates.

Zhang Qinsheng spoke about his company. Beijing Tianfu is already running Russian language courses for local high schoolers in Sichuan. He inquired about possible assistance, including dispatching qualified educators to Chengdu and providing textbooks and programs.

A number of other cooperation opportunities were discussed, including joint investment in dorm construction and co-managed university branches in China. This has yet to be negotiated upon in more serious detail.

Dmitry Tayursky informed that KFU has a custom-built program for Chinese learners of Russian and is ready to share this unique product. Also, Chinese students may soon be able to partake in remote-based practical lessons, including live experiments.

The delegation proceeded to visit the KFU IT Lyceum to find out more about one of the best secondary schools in Russia.
