Kazan University to provide infrastructure for antibiotic resistance research

A meeting on pharmaceutical industry was held on 16th August by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan Aleksey Savelchev.

Kazan University was represented by Vice-Rector Andrey Kiyasov and Head of Pharmaceutics Center Yury Shtyrlin.

Among other questions, a possible establishment of a multi-profile center of personalized medicine and pharmaceutics was discussed. Another center – for inquiries into antibiotic resistance – may also be opened under the aegis of the Pharma 2030 Federal Program.

Dr. Kiyasov assured that KFU has all the necessary facilities for antibiotic resistance monitoring, including the University Clinic, the Pharmaceutics Center, and the Center for Genomic and Proteomic Research.

“Kazan University can become a center for antibiotic resistance monitoring and is ready to do so. During the meeting, we asked hospitals and educational institutions to pitch their proposals in order to unite our efforts in this regard,” he added.
