New teacher education model to be introduced in upcoming academic year

The Institute of Psychology and Education has shared details.

Deputy Director of the Institute Timirkhan Alishev explains, “The new model blends theoretical classes and school practice. The first to partner in this project is Bala City, a multilingual school network.”

The gist of the new program is that students spend three days a week in schools starting from junior year.

As of now, Kazan Federal University has introduced three teacher education models – traditional, distributed, and integrated. The traditional model sticks to well-known patterns, while the distributed one places future teachers at respective subject institutes (such as the Institute of Physics for physicists, etc.). The integrated model means that freshmen or sophomores can choose whether they want to transfer to teacher education programs or to professional ones.

“The dual model widens the environment where future teachers can amass practical experience. We now task ourselves with expanding this cooperation to traditional educational institutions,” concludes Dr. Alishev.
