Ishikawa Prefecture officials learned more about Tatarstan and Kazan University

Rector Ilshat Gafurov welcomed the delegation on 10th July.

The meeting opened with a minute of silence to honor the victims of the latest typhoon which had hit Japan a few days ago.

After that, Rector Gafurov spoke in detail about the University's current strategy and priorities. Naturally, he also mentioned many fruitful partnerships with Japanese colleagues. Kanazawa University, located in Ishikawa, has been a partner for over 20 years. It now is one of the universities assigned by the Government of Japan to oversee and promote academic exchanges between the two countries.

Kenichiro Mizutani, head of the delegation, said, “We have heard much about your cooperation with Kanazawa, and I'd like to ask whether KFU graduates linguists and which career these professionals can aspire to.” Vice-Rector Dmitry Tayursky replied that English is still the primary language of communication, but the situation changes gradually.

The Japanese guests then suggested that KFU join a cultural exchange program supervised by the International Cooperation Society of Ishikawa. The idea was met with eagerness by the University executives.
