Kazan University and Southwest Petroleum University deepen academic and industrial cooperation

A meeting was held last week in Chengdu.

The two sides summed up their joint efforts. Currently, the partners are implementing six joint thermal recovery projects for China's largest oil companies, PetroChina and Sinopec. A master's course in petroleum engineering has also been launched. Within its framework, six KFU students spent a semester at Southwest Petroleum University last fall. Now, the second group is going to study in China.

In September 2018, Kazan Federal University and Southwest Petroleum University will launch a series of other joint education projects. In particular, the two sides mentioned double diplomas in geology, oil and natural gas technology, and chemical technology. In addition, the universities plans to launch an online undergraduate course - students will be able to study in China and Kazan for two years each, and will also receive two diplomas.

Another item on the agenda was in-situ combustion. KFU and SWPU plan to continue testing the technology in Karamay, Xinjiang.
