4th International Forum on Teacher Education

The forum is being held on 22nd – 24th May.

Today, the forum was opened by a number of plenary speakers. Among them were Rector Ilshat Gafurov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Russia Tatyana Sinyugina, Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan Rafis Burganov, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Education Vladimir Laptev, President of the International Study Association on Teachers and Teaching Maria Flores, President of the Association for Teacher Education in Europe Asa Morberg, and other dignitaries. This year, the forum has gathered 638 contributors from 93 Russian and 65 overseas universities.

Rector Gafurov noted, “The significance of teacher education today is very high for any society. Pedagogical profession has always been one that looks into the future.” The forum’s main focus was announced – the importance of a teacher’s role in the emerging multicultural, technological and friendly educational environment.

Deputy Minister Sinyugina said that the professional community needs to make efforts to modernize national education for global competitiveness.

Minister Burganov talked about the regional system of pedagogical education and various forms of support for young teachers.

Mr. Laptev mentioned President Putin's latest executive order which posed the task to enter top 10 educational systems in the world. The goal, according to the speaker, is to make the system the best of all by increasing the qualification of teaching cadres.

President of ISATT Maria Flores said, “In my report, I want to point out and compare how global science shapes the quality of teaching. This pertains not only to standards, effectiveness, or educational management. I see teachers as leaders of the study process. The main elements of this process are motivation, resilience, innovation, and professionalism which should all be the basis for professional teacher education.”

These and other theses are being more deeply discussed at the today's conference “The integration of theory and practice in subject teacher education.”
