Visit by Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Woo Yoon-geun

The Ambassador and his team met with Vice-Rector Linar Latypov and KFU employees.

After a visit to the History Museum and Lenin Memorial Classroom, the guests listened to Dr. Latypov’s presentation. He emphasized, “Russian science is going through its renaissance. Kazan Federal University has managed to preserve its traditions and enhance its scientific and educational potential.”

Currently, there are 25 South Korean nationals at KFU, so the end-of-year result may yet surpass the last year's number, which was 42. The Vice-Rector invited everyone to make efforts to expand bilateral mobility.

Ambassador Woo thanked the University for the warm welcome and noted similarities between Tatarstani and Korean cultures. He said he was very comfortable despite this being his first visit to the city.

He resumed by saying that he will contribute to scientific and cultural exchange between Kazan, Tatarstan, and South Korea. Dr. Latypov said that public diplomacy and peer-to-peer cooperation are keys to success.

The Korean delegation is staying in Kazan for the ongoing Forum of Oriental Languages and Cultures (26th – 28th April). A sizable part of the Forum’s activities is dedicated to Korea.
