Network master programs to be launched together with Astrakhan State University

Pens were put to paper today by Rector Ilshat Gafurov and Acting Rector of ASU Konstantin Markelov.

The first two programs in the signed agreement are Theory and Practice of Translation in Professional Communication and Theory of Translation in Intercultural and Interlanguage Communication. Online classes will be a major part of both.

Rector Gafurov noted, “We have now outlined our cooperation priorities. We know that Astrakhan is renowned for its linguistic school, and today’s agreement reflects that. Astrakhan is a region acting a coordinator of diplomatic work with Caspian states, and it’s important for us to have an opportunity to enter this region and to exchange experience, including that of international cooperation.”

Konstantin Markelov agreed that Astrakhan and Tatarstan have been long been friendly regions with common interests and development vectors. He added that joint work of Russian universities must become a priority in science and education.

The programs will be implemented by the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies. Yesterday, Institute Director Ramil Khayrutdinov accompanied Astrakhani colleagues during their tour of the facilities, spoke about other network programs in action at KFU, and introduced some of the educators who plan to be involved in this new project.
