In 2017, the Clinic made major breakthroughs in cardiovascular surgery, having introduced heart bypass surgeries for patients with ischemic heart diseases under artificial blood circulation and on working heart, heart valve prosthetics, endovascular destruction of accessory pathways and arhythmogenic heart zones. 148 successful surgeries have been performed so far, including 12 extremely complicated cases of patients who had been denied help in other high-tech medical centers in Russia.

Currently, the University Clinic is conducting 14 clinical trials of medications for cardiology and rheumatology and numerous medication research projects.

Two international observation projects are ongoing for thrombosis patients, and five medication research projects have been completed. Six tests of biological valence have been successfully finished, and respective medications will be registered in Russia.

The Clinic introduced a number of brand new cytogenetic methods of cell testing, including lymphocytes, cells of the spinal cord, chorionic villi, amniotic fluid, abortion material, and umbilical cord blood. The methods help determine genetic anomalies during very early stages of pregnancy (up to 12 weeks).

The Clinic was awarded for its work in two regional contests – Best Goods and Services of Tatarstan 2017 and 50 Best Innovative Ideas of Tatarstan 2017.

Currently, the Clinic comprises 2 multi-purpose inpatient facilities with 21 wards, a birth center, and an outpatient department for 40 thousand local residents.

The integration of education and research has facilitated the creation of a unique medical center that serves as a research base, a practice platform for students, and a state-of-the-art medical service provider for the city of Kazan, the Republic of Tatarstan, and the whole country.
