Kazan University and Huawei to Establish a Joint Educational Center

The sides signed an agreement at the annual performance review meeting of the Ministry of Informatization and Communications of Tatarstan.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Communications and Mass Media of Russia Nikolay Nikiforov, President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, and Rector Ilshat Gafurov. Minister of Informatization and Communications Roman Shaykhutdinov presented a performance report.

After listening to the main points of the review, Minister Nikiforov noted, “I am glad that our Chinese colleagues are here and consider it important to synchronize their actions with Tatarstani colleagues. Digital economy is the economy of talents, and it significantly depends on people and their level of education. Russia cannot develop without a sound information policy. We have to promote our operating systems, Internet services and standards.”

To that end, Huawei and KFU decided to open a new educational center on the University’s premises. It will teach students to handle network equipment.

Director of the Higher School of IT and Information Systems Ayrat Khasyanov commented, “Several KFU academics will become certified Huawei instructors. A curriculum will be opened for students to acquire knowledge in instruments and network technology utilized by the company.”

The Center will start working in fall 2018. The current agreement extends for two years and can be prolonged after expiration.
