The Ambassador and his colleagues met with Vice-Rector Linar Latypov.

The Burundian side was also represented by Research Associate of the Arbuzov Institute of Organic and Physical Chemistry Eric-Willy Ndayishimiye and PhD student of Kazan State Power Engineering University Jean-Albert Manigomba; KFU – by Associate Professor Ramil Yuzmukhametov, Associate Professor Aida Fattakhova and Assistant Lecturer Aleksandr Lazarev.

Dr. Latypov noted, “Five Burundians have graduated from our university, and that's not the limit.”

Ambassador Bizimana thanked the University and said, “Burundian students who studied in Russia occupy high positions after returning to the homeland, unlike graduates of Western universities.”

Dr. Fattakhova informed that the Department of Indian-Iranian and African Languages (now reorganized and merged into the Department of Eastern, African and Islamic Studies) was established in 2011. “The first African language to be taught at KFU was Kiswahili. A year later we launched courses in Afrikaans. In 2014, a first student group specializing in Kiswahili was formed,” said she and added that KFU is now considered to be the third most prominent center of African studies in Russia.

The talks concluded with agreements on further cooperation.
