Professor Srivastava came to the Center for Indian Studies of the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies to teach Indian history and culture.

On January 16th, he came to Kazan Federal University for the first time and held a meeting with Vice-Rector for International Relations Linar Latypov.

“Professor Srivastava is a high-profile Indologist. Funded by the grant of the Indian Embassy, he will be lecturing at Kazan Federal University till the end of the academic year,” the Vice-Rector pointed out.

The Grant of the Embassy of India in Russian Federation was given for the foundation of the Center for Indian Studies at the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies in order to develop Indology at KFU. Now the Center employs two professors and holds classes for about 30 students. Professor Srivastava will teach Indian history and culture from ancient to modern times.  

“I was confident to choose Kazan Federal University out of several options to come here and work with Kazan students,” said Dr. Srivastava. He added that he will be lecturing in English and Hindi, but he also plans to learn Russian.

Using this occasion, representatives of the Embassy of India in Russian Federation awarded Linar Latypov with a lapel badge “70 Years of Diplomatic Relations between India and Russia” for his personal contribution to the development of the subject.
