Kazan University and Kanazawa University Sign Several Agreements

The ongoing visit to Japan produced first results on January 17th.

Firstly, a memorandum of cooperation was signed which provides educational opportunities for students of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, the Institute of Computational Mathematics and IT, and the Institute of Physics. Double diplomas will now be available to Russian and Japanese students. The signatories were KFU Vice-Rector Dmitry Tayursky and Vice-President of KU Yoshio Otani.

Secondly, a trilateral cooperation agreement was signed by KFU, KU, and Republican Clinical Cancer Center of Tatarstan. The planned measures include joint research, staff exchange, education, conferences, and publications. The signatories were Rector of KFU Ilshat Gafurov, Chief Medical Officer of RCCC Ildar Khayrullin, and President of KU Koetsu Yamazaki.

The initiative to expand links was put forth by the Government of Japan. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology launched several programs with Russian universities. KFU, in particular, has proven the effectiveness of such ties with RIKEN. A symposium is planned for today at Kanazawa University which will get into details on these and other projects.
