Entrepreneurship Factory 2017 Finals

President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Minister of Economy Artyom Zdunov, and Rector Ilshat Gafurov attended the contest on 24th December.

Entrepreneurship Factory is not only a competition for startups but also a kind of a crash course in business. Executives of top local companies and KFU educators help entrepreneurs to acquire skills in market analysis, risk management, financial planning, and PR.

President Minnikhanov was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the presentations, “We have seen many outstanding and original projects. The fact that young people don’t cease to amaze us proves we still underperform, don’t see them, don’t help them to discover their talents. Our Entrepreneurship Factory is a project which needs to be developed not only in Kazan but in Naberezhnye Chelny, Nizhnekamsk, Almetyevsk, and other big cities of the Republic. It’s very important to show and copy such examples.”

Rector Gafurov emphasized that Entrepreneurship Factory is a real chance to learn business from experienced predecessors, “We have a significant number of infrastructural entities in the Republic where seasoned entrepreneurs work, but the Factory is a platform where they meet those who are only starting their activities. This was the idea. And its importance is attested by the fact that we have here the top officials of Tatarstan, well-known businesspersons, and investors – people who can make real decisions to support entrepreneurship.”

Entrepreneurship Factory was founded four years ago by Kazan University and Ministry of Economy of Tatarstan. The project has since grown. In particular, this season the nominees were split into two categories. Start Factory was aimed at those who started from scratch under the guidance by experienced businesspersons. Factory Pro was for people who wanted to expand and enhance their existing businesses. As usual, the voting was made by both the experts and the audience of the assembly hall of the Institute of Management, Economics and Finance. Another innovation was Kids’ Factory – a project for minors in Naberezhnye Chelny. They also arrived to Kazan but didn’t compete – their contributions were in the form of art performances. In the end, five projects were awarded by the jury, and one – SMM School Plastilink by Alisa Safina – got the grand prix and the investment.

Next year, the Factory plans to upsize to other cities and to introduce even more nominations.
