Memorandum of Understanding Signed by Kazan University and Governorate of Tashkent Region of Uzbekistan

The signatories were Vice-Rector Linar Latypov and Deputy Governor Odillkhon Rustamov.

Before the signing, the two sides held a meeting. Those in charge of admission and student services joined Dr. Latypov on the KFU's side, and several mayors of Uzbekistani cities came to participate with Deputy Governor Rustamov.

Director of the KFU International Office Andrey Krylov commented on the signing, noting some issues often encountered when working with prospective enrollees in Uzbekistan, “Sometimes we have difficulties when local authorities try to meddle in our meeting with pupils or refuse to provide venues. We hope to now have opportunities to work in more tranquil conditions.”

Mayor of Bekabad Zafar Fayzullaev was elated with what he saw at Kazan University. He said, “We are now in a historically important place. Many of our compatriots – great scholars – have studied here. When we come back to Uzbekistan, we will advise young people to study at the great Kazan University.”

Uzbekistanis traditionally have the largest representation among KFU students. There are 1,217 individuals as of today. The University has three partnership agreements with Uzbekistan's counterparts.
