National Conference 'Natural Reserves – Joint Responsibility and Care'

The conference takes up November 24th – 25th.

120 experts, including educators, managers of national parks and reserves, businesspersons, and social activists have arrived to KFU to participate. The event concludes the Year of Ecology in Russia for Kazan University.

The audience at the opening ceremony was greeted by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Tatarstan Farid Abdulganiev, Deputy Director of the Department of State Policy and Regulation in Environment of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia Igor Davydov, and Vice-Rector Danis Nurgaliev. Mr. Abdulganiev also read out the address from the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Russia Sergey Donskoy.

Igor Davydov informed the participants that in 2017 the federal ministry established an information center which aims to systemize the management procedures for national parks and reserves and to create a roadmap for environmental education with the Ministry of Education and Science.

“Protected natural areas possess specific opportunities for a unique educational environment for the general public. Museums under the sky are always interesting to people of all ages,” said he.

Regional museums of natural history should also join the process. There are currently about 800 of them in Russia.

In 2016, 8.5 million tourists visited natural reserves and parks. “With the upsurge in tourism the system will receive millions of visitors ready to know more about animal and environmental protection. It’s necessary to work in advance and create educational programs,” he added.

Vice-Rector Nurgaliev briefly informed about projects in ecology and environmental research currently undertaken by KFU. He noted the great importance of the work that the conference contributors are engaged in.
