Kazan University and Niigata University Agree on Academic Exchange in Biomedicine

An agreement was signed on November 17th at the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology.

The signatories were Vice-Rector Andrey Kiyasov and Dean of the NU Faculty of Medicine Tatsuo Ushiki.

Dr. Ushiki commented, “Niigata University and KFU are very much alike in their structure, we both have many faculties and institutes. In the future, of course, we aim to sign cooperation agreements not only between medical institutes but between universities. Niigata University pays much attention to research projects. Our task now is to find out which biomedical topics are our mutual points of interest, and then form our joint research. This year we had a good start – we received two KFU students who were very well trained and, I hope, next year we will accept KFU students again.”

“A few years ago we obtained a government grant to cooperate with Russian medical universities, and we continued our links with existing partners, but then we felt that we needed to expand into European Russia, and started cooperation with Kazan University. Our interaction started when one Japanese professor met with one of your students. We found out more about your university and then contacted you to inquire about cooperation opportunities. Kazan and Kazan University, without a doubt, share a rich history.”

During the day the Japanese delegation toured the KFU medical cluster, including the University Clinic, the Medical Simulation Center, the anatomical theater, and the classrooms.
