National Conference 'Otorhinolaryngology and Pediatrics: Today and Tomorrow'

The conference was held by the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology on October 19th – 20th.

Aside from plenary sessions, several symposiums were held as well – on bacteriophages, antiseptics, and ear diseases. A dissection workshop on endoscopic and functional surgery was also arranged, sponsored by Endomedium and Mikromir. The events attracted otorhinolaryngologists, family doctors, dentists, jaw and face surgeons, dermatologists, and many other medical experts.

The honorary guests of the conference were Yakov Nakatis (Otorhinolaryngologist at the Federal Medical-Biological Agency), Professor Hesham Negm (Cairo University), and Deputy Director of the Scientific and Clinical Center of Otorhinolaryngology of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency Aleksandr Burkin.

Dr. Nakatis and Nikolay Daykhes (Scientific and Clinical Center of Otorhinolaryngology) attracted attention with their reports on clinical management and development of the ear-nose-throat field in Russia. Professors Albina Safina and Sergey Mosikhin (Kazan State Medical Academy) talked about the interaction between ORL doctors and pediatricians in treatment of recurrent respiratory infections in children. Other contribution pertained to chronic otitis in children, tonsillitis, antibiotic therapy, and other matters.
