Visit by Rector of Egyptian Russian University Mohamed Abd El Nabi

A protocol of intent was signed on October 20th.

The guest visited the History Museum and several institutes, with a special focus on KFU-RIKEN lab at the Institute of Physics.

At the Synthesis and Analysis of Thin Film Systems Lab Dr. Abd El Nabi took a look of the newest experimental equipment for in situ analysis of nanometer layers. At the Strongly Correlated Systems Lab (specializing on mono crystals of inorganic compounds) the employees showed him crystals grown by float zone melting with optical heating. Another device which captured the guest’s interest was a dilution refrigerator capable of reaching temperatures as low as 10 millikelvin. Such temperatures are needed to study quantum phenomena.

In the evening the Rector met with KFU employees headed by Vice-Rector Dmitry Tayursky.

Dr. Abd El Nabi said that his main cooperation interests were pharmacology, dentistry, and engineering. The signed protocol of intent covered student exchange, information exchange, academic visits, and synchronization of educational trajectories.
