King Sejong Korean Language School to Be Opened at Kazan University in Spring 2018

The partner is Shinhan University.

Apart from the qualified Russian teachers who have passed TOPIK Level 6 exams, a native speaker from Shinhan will be teaching at the School.

Chair of the Department of Altaic and Chinese Studies Alfiya Alikberova commented, “Korean language has become very popular lately in various fields. Thanks to this new School, more students will be able to study Korean free of charge”.

Asian studies in general have become more and more pertinent for Russian academics. In that regard, whereas Chinese studies have long been popularized for a long time now, Korean studies are only starting on this path.

Only two such centers have been opened so far – in Astrakhan and Ulan-Ude. Two more, but without official South Korean partners, work in Moscow. This new school at KFU will become a Korean language center for the whole Volga Federal District.

Naturally, the School will concentrate on various spheres of Korean culture as well, including arts, literature, and traditions.
