Nazarbayev University and Kazan University: First Steps of Cooperation in Translational Medicine

A group of KFU Gene and Cell Technologies Lab employees visited colleagues in Kazakhstan.

Kazan University team was headed by Lab Chair Albert Rizvanov.

The two sides conducted experiments on a unique piece of equipment – Amnis ImageStream. The device is a flow cytometer and a microscope capable of conducting multi-parameter analysis of rare cell populations. Kazanites delved into processes of interaction between human stem cells and extracellular vesicles. The obtained data will contribute to new methods of address delivery of medications.

Questions of future cooperation with Nazarbayev University in cell biology and translational medicine were also discussed, including potential student exchange and joint research.

A meeting was held with Ivan Vorobyev, Acting Chair of the NU Department of Biology, Professor of Moscow State University, Head of the Cell Motility Lab of the Institute of Physico-Chemical Biology.
