Hitachi May Provide New Scientific Equipment for Kazan University

Two representatives of the Japanese industrial giant visited on June 6th

The two guests were President of Hitachi High-Technologies Europe Koga Yasukuni and General Director of HHT Europe Kimura Osamu.

They were greeted by Vice-Rector for Research Danis Nurgaliev who presented KFU and its main priority areas.

In his response Mr. Koga touched on KFU’s long history and poetically said that he felt the presence of a very special historical spirit within the University’s walls. He then briefly touched on Hitachi’s own historical development and emphasized that the company always pays maximum attention to customer service. He quipped that the two main components of a successful product creation process are attention to feedback and smooth business negotiations at drinking parties.

On a more serious note, Mr. Koga thanked Yury Osin, Director of the KFU Analytical Microscopy Center, for his contribution to bilateral ties and invaluable feedback about the company’s products, specifically the Hitachi HT7700 Exalens TEM which is used by the Center and featured in its publications. Dr. Osin was given a symbolic gift in appreciation of his work by the Japanese side. Chief Engineer of the Center Vladimir Yevtyugin then spoke about the Center’s recent activities, including some numbers representing the workload of the microscope and other equipment.

Vice-Rector Nurgaliev concluded the talks with proposing the most probable next purchase – a cryo-electron microscope, something of big importance for KFU in light of the ongoing research about which we wrote just yesterday. He and the visitors also exchanged presents.

The delegation thereupon proceeded to the KFU History Museum to learn more about the storied place.
