The meeting occurred at RIPED, PetroChina's research and development facility, on May 22nd in Beijing.

SAU EcoOil has many common points of interest with PetroChina. During the previous meeting in autumn 2016, a hint was made at possible future cooperation at Karamay oilfield.

KFU delegation was invited to RIPED to get acquainted with the latest achievements in petroleum science and used this opportunity to the fullest. Among the equipment shown was the combustion tube for steam treatment tests. In his turn, Vice-Rector Danis Nurgaliev spoke about  Kazan Federal University, Head of SAU EcoOil Mikhail Varfolomeev talked about his work, and Director of the Center for Additional Education of IGPT Ildus Chukmarov presented training programs for the petroleum industry.

Dr. Varfolomeev summarized, «There are several active deposits utilizing in-situ combustion in China, as well as several pilot grounds for the same technology. That's why Chinese colleagues are very interested in our ISC monitoring tech. They are also keen on learning more about our oxidization and underground refining catalysts. Both types of catalysts are able to help in extracting heavy and shale oils».
