A Chinese New Year was Celebrated in KFU

Yesterday, on February 04, 2013, a concert devoted to opening of the Union of Chinese Students in Kazan and New Year celebration according to the Chinese calendar was given in UNIX Concert-and-Sport-Complex of KFU.

Reference information. New Year celebrated according to the Chinese calendar is the main holiday in China and has no fixed celebration date. It has also been called the Spring Feast since 1911. The firm date is determined according to phases of the Moon, and this year the first day of the New Year fell on the 10th of February. In 2013 its symbols are a snake, water and black colour.

On the occasion of the forthcoming Chinese New Year the Feast organizers have prepared a very special exhibition devoted to China and traditions and culture of the great nation for their guests. The main part of this event was held in the Small Hall, where a solemn ceremony was conducted with participation of the University administration representatives. During this ceremony the news about Union of Chinese students and post-graduate students organizing in Kazan was divulged. This community (in the form of association of fellow countrymen) is destined to help countrymen, actively support all who strive for studying the Chinese language and traditions, as well as to consult Kazan schoolchildren and students. It is supposed that this public organisation will be rather numerous, as 171 students from China study in Kazan Federal University alone.

After the ceremony guests were invited to a bright colourful performance. Various musical compositions were played by students, with national Chinese instruments being used for that. Audience was also admired by dance numbers done at a good professional level. The evening ended with chorus of the song “We are one family”, which was sung in the Chinese language.
