Kazan University and Skoltech Center for Photonics and Quantum Materials Plan Joint Curricula

Director of the Center Ildar Gabitov visited KFU on March 31st to meet with Rector Ilshat Gafurov.

During the talks Professor Gabitov, who initiated the negotiations, said, “We arrived to offer joint programs. Kazan University is a good choice because of its rich history of research. One of the first programs will be in photonics. This is a very promising area, and our country lacks professionals in it”.

Rector Gafurov was interested in the proposal. Vice-Rector Dmitry Tayursky will coordinate the effort on the KFU’s side, as well as Director of the Institute of Physics Sergey Nikitin.

The agreement is expected to be signed on April 13th when a wider Skoltech delegation headed by Rector Alexander Kuleshov plans to come to the University. Photonics and quantum materials won’t be the only direction of cooperation. Another program that was discussed yesterday is “Quantum Materials – Solid-State Physics”, and it’s almost ready for launch as well.
