The son of Tatarstan Roald Sagdeev celebrated his 80th anniversary

Roald Sagdeev, a physicist, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Distinguished Professor of Physics at the University of Maryland (USA) celebrated his 80th anniversary in Tatarstan.

Rector Ilshat Gafurov wished the astrophysicist happy anniversary on behalf of Kazan Federal University: "Thank you, Roald Zinnurovich, for the attention you pay to development of the academic and university science in Tatarstan. Once the first President of Tatarstan Academy of Sciences told that the ideas of Roald Sagdeev were ahead of his time. This is true if we look at the presentations and articles on the problems of education and science development written by our jubilee in 1970s and 1980s.

The participation of our astronomers in accompaniment of the largest international space project "Vega" became a memorable event for the University. The Academic Council which earlier awarded to you (and to Renad Sagdeev) a rank of Doctor Honoris Causa enthusiastically accepted organization of Roald and Renad Sagdeev grants to KFU students ".

The Kazan Federal University presented memorable gifts to the jubilee (an album with photos of Kazan from 1930th and the two-volume book "History of Kazan University Represented by Persons").
