Russian Government Allocates Funds for the Project 5-100 Participants in 2017

Kazan University is in the top group of recipients with 849.2 million rubles for the year.

The 21 participating universities have been split into three equal groups. The top 7 get 849.2 mln each, the middle 7 – 482.2 mln each, and the remaining – 141.5 mln each, amounting to 10.31 billion rubles.

The decision is made once a year by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia based on the recommendations from the Council of the Competitiveness Enhancement. This is the program’s fifth year, and the second when 21 universities are in the mix (there were 15 in the beginning). The funding was 8.7 bln rubles in 2013, 10.15 bln in 2014, 10.14 bln in 2015 (each for 15 universities), and 10.93 bln in 2016 (for 21 participants).

Project 5-100 is currently scheduled until 2020, and discussions about its future are underway.
