Pakistan Is Ready to Send Students to Kazan University

Pakistan's Ambassador to Russia Qazi Khalilulla and Deputy Head of Mission Ata-ul-Munim Shahid visited on February 1st.

The two guests are also meeting with President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov.

There are currently four Pakistani nationals at KFU, two at undergraduate programs, one at postgraduate, and one PhD candidate.

Vice-Rector Linar Latypov greeted the guests by saying, «Kazan University is known in the world for its students, including Lenin and Tolstoy. It is one of the biggest universities in Russia both by the scale of facilities and by the number of students».

Cooperation with Pakistani researchers is possible in all four strategic academic units. Of special interest in this context are also Islamic studies, Russian language, and machine building and automotive industry.

Of course, Islamica Center was also mentioned during the talks. The offer was made to Pakistani colleagues about starting joint projects there.

H. E. Mr. Khalilulla replied, «I am thankful for this opportunity to see Kazan University. It’s really a great university. During their visit to Pakistan the Tatarstani delegation showed us different cooperation options. I think that KFU is an appropriate place to host many Pakistani students».

Both sides are convinced that the current number of students from the Islamic Republic is clearly insufficient. The recommendation on this matter will be sent by the Embassy to relevant authorities.
