New Canteen Opened in One of the University Dorms

The establishment plans to serve 1,500 people a day.

The canteen at 2b Gadel Qutuy Street was actually re-opened at the same spot where it had been working for a long time before the end of 2015. The premises gradually lost their appeal due to dilapidation, and Rector Ilshat Gafurov decided to renovate the facility. The investment amounted to 71 million rubles.

Rector Gafurov and other executives came to test the meals themselves on the first day. The canteen will not only serve students, of which there are more than 4,000 in the 6 dorms nearby. The other – and more demanding task – is to provide food for the University Clinic’s patients.

General Director of the Kazan University Food Services Administration Liliana Minnakhmetova said, “25 employees will prepare meals for 1,500 people every day. 750 of these clients will be the patients. The menu is very varied. We have 12 dietary menus for the patients and 6 more for other patrons”.

The prices will be very affordable even in comparison with other student canteens in the city. Rector Gafurov suggested that vice-rectors visit the new joint from time to time to check the quality of the services and foods.

The quality, it should be noted, promises to be under special control. The Clinic’s specialists plan to supervise everything closely for the dietary offerings.

The canteen will open for everyone on January 17th.
