Anniversary Week Closed with a Big Concert

Kazan University celebrated its 212th birthday with events spread along several days.

The main concert was held in UNICS Cultural Center on November 18th. Rector Ilshat Gafurov addressed the audience, “I am glad to see people who are not indifferent to our university, its history, its present and future. Despite being 212 years old, Kazan University continues developing rapidly, hosting multiple national and global events, climbing up in rankings. This all is the fruit of our collective labor”. Two regional ministers – and alumni of KFU – joined the congratulations. They were Minister of Youth Affairs and Sport Vladimir Leonov and Minister of Ecology Farid Abdulganiev.

After that the most active and highly rated academics of the year were awarded. Noticeably, all generations of employees were equally represented.

Then the concert itself followed, with numerous dancing, singing, and comedy performances. Watching the show were invited guests from 21 Russian universities. Some of them also showed their talents on the stage. The grand gala ended with a cake tasting.

Naturally, this event was not the only one in the celebration schedule. Three other concerts were held during the week, all given for free by friends of the University. Rector and other university managers held several meetings with student bodies to discuss best practices of student self-governance and make plans for the future. Rector also gave an interview to Russia 24, a federal news network.

In other good news, KFU resumed its “History of the Future” project – free sightseeing tours of the University complex, its new labs, museums, and historical facilities. You can sign up for a tour here.
