Cooperation Digest for October 15th – 21st, 2016

Saudi Aramco and Ricoh were among the visitors this week.

Takayama Akira, a representative of Ricoh Innovations, visited the Institute of ITIS. He was welcomed at several labs and center of the Institute. At the Visualization Lab he took a look at Bolgar XIV and Tetyushi – two 3D modelling reconstructions of the historical places of Tatarstan. Mr. Takayama then proceeded to familiarize himself with the Robot Emotions – a project aimed at detecting different types of human emotions, something that can be helpful in medicine. Another software center - The E-Lab - is currently concentrated on its cooperation with Samsung in creating information gathering algorithms.

A delegation from Saudi Aramco, the world leader in petroleum extraction, toured the Institute of Chemistry and the Institute of Geology on October 19th. The guests were most interested in some projects that are being made in collaboration with Tatneft, such as nanocatalysts, 3D modelling, and interbedding combustion. They were also very keen on learning more about in situ refining and gas hydrates. The sides agreed on making further arrangements for cooperation during ADIPEC 2016 in Abu Dhabi this November.

Guests from Saint-Petersburg State University – Senior Vice-Rector Ilya Dementyev, Director of the SPbU Clinic Yury Fedotov and Senior Vice-Rector for Economy Yelena Chernova – came to the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology and to the University Clinic on October 19th. They spent a lot of time at all the main attractions, including open labs and medical training facilities, to study KFU’s best practices. After the meetings Vice-Rector Dementyev shared his very positive impressions of the medical education complex.
