EXON 2016 Symposium in Progress at Kazan University

170 scientists from 22 countries are participating.

The forum opened on September 5th. Kazan University is a co-organizer with 4 other research institutions specializing in nuclear physics. Russia is hosting EXON for the 8th time.

Nuclear research is specific in its internationalization – the equipment is so complex and expensive that only multi-country collaborations can be successful, as evidenced by the Large Hadron Collider or NICA at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research. These facilities allow us to delve deeper and deeper into the innermost secrets of matter and Universe and provide essential information to all sciences.

After the opening ceremony Rector Ilshat Gafurov and other KFU executives met with the honored guests of the event. Those were Yury Oganessian (Head of the Flerov Laboratory at JINR), Victor Matveev (Director of JINR), Grigory Trubnikov (Vice-Director of JINR), and Yury Penionzhkevich (Section Head of the Flerov Laboratory).

The sides agreed on signing a framework agreement between KFU and JINR further down the road. All the participants then toured the historical places of interest within the University campus.

The forum will wrap up on September 9th; the agreement should be signed on the same day.
